"When I was home educating my kids a craft we enjoyed was punch tin. We used the lids from frozen orange juice as they have a nice rounded finished edge (not sharp, won't cut if handled). Choose a design from a coloring book or draw your own (design has to fit on round orange juice lid). Afix the design to the lid with double sided tape. Place lid with design on scrap piece of board so you won't damage your table surface as you punch. Using hammer and nail punch holes evenly spaced all around your design. Remove your design pattern, punch a hole at the top of your design in the outer edge of the lid for hanging. Can use decorative metalic thread, narrow ribbon, or Christmas hooks for hanging; Can embellish. Use as Christmas ornaments or hang anywhere light will shine through the holes punched. It is a "free" craft material, keeps those metal lids out of the landfill, etc."

I use the plastic grocery bags that we all end up with to make "rag rugs" that can withstand the elements .I cut them into aprox. 3" strips and using a large crochet hook , just start crocheting in a circle until I get to the size I want.
